DRG Sells NRK Format Teenage Boss

CANNES: Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands are among the territories to have picked up the NRK format Teenage Boss through DRG.

This spring DRG became the exclusive distributor of NRK Formats. DR in Denmark has commissioned six episodes of Teenage Boss for in-house production, with the show to launch in late spring. DRG closed two further deals, with one of Europe’s largest producers for the format in Holland and a separate agreement in Spain. NRK1 has already announced that a second season will go into production this year, ahead of the show’s season one premiere on November 9.

Andrea Jackson, the managing director of acquisitions and formats at DRG, said, “Teenage Boss puts one teen totally in control of the family’s finances for 30 days and we watch the emotion and drama unfold. It’s a really unique format which we’re delighted to confirm will soon be launching with new local versions on Finland’s YLE and Denmark’s DR.”

Ole Hedemann, the head of format and development at NRK, added, “We are proud of the way our formats have been received by broadcasters and producers internationally. ‘Teenage boss’ is yet to be aired in Norway, but still we know it’s a strong format with a universal topic that will reach broad audiences in many countries. We are committed to, and will continuously bring the best of Norwegian creativity to the marketplace through our excellent relationship with DRG.”
