Doc, Lifestyle Winners Announced for Geminis

TORONTO: A total of 50 Gemini Awards for Documentary, Lifestyle, News and Sports programming were presented last night at an event in Toronto hosted by The Listener‘s Ennis Esmer.

The winner for Best Documentary Series was Licence to Drill from Pixcom Productions, while WIWA Productions’ Tosca: Flexing at 49 took Best General/Human Interest Series. Paris 1919, a co-pro of National Film Board of Canada, 13 Production, Galafilm and Arte France, scored Best History Documentary Program. Insight Production’s How to Look Good Naked Canada was named Best Lifestyle/Practical Information Series. Best Biography Documentary Program went to White Pine Pictures’ Genius Within—The Inner Life of Glenn Gould.

Cross-Platform Project winners were marblemedia’s Taste Buds (Children’s and Youth), Temple Street’s Being Erica webisodes (Fiction), and CBC’s Kraft Hockeyville 2010 (Non-Fiction).

Held by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, the Gemini Awards continue tonight for Drama, Children’s and Youth, Comedy, and Variety. The 25th Annual Gemini Awards will conclude with the Broadcast Gala on November 13, to be hosted by Glee‘s Cory Monteith and broadcast on Global and Showcase.
