Disney Ranked as Top Media Company by Profit, Revenues

NEW YORK: Driven in part by the success of The Avengers, The Walt Disney Company tops SNL Kagan’s list of top 25 media and entertainment companies, based on both net profit and operating revenues in 2012.

For fiscal 2012, Disney’s net profit was $6.17 billion, on revenues of $42.28 billion, keeping it in the number one spot. By profit, Time Warner took the number two spot, with Thomson Reuters in third. Other entertainment companies in the top ten were Viacom in fourth, CBS Corporation in sixth, Liberty Media in seventh, News Corporation—number two last year—in eighth and Discovery Communications in tenth.

The list also includes Scripps Networks Interactive (11), Starz (18) and AMC Networks (25). By revenues, meanwhile, News Corporation sits in second place, followed by Time Warner. CBS is fifth and Viacom sixth, The top 25 by revenues also includes Discovery (14), Netflix (17) and Scripps (23).
