Disney Channel, Aster Ink Multiyear Distribution Deal in Poland

WARSAW, April 30: Disney Channel has boosted its presence in the Polish market—which it entered in December 2006—reaching a multiyear deal with the cable operator Aster to bring the kids’ network to subscribers across Poland, starting tomorrow.

Launched in Poland on December 2, 2006, the Disney Channel is currently available to 1.8 million subscribers in Poland via the digital platform CYFRA+ and Cyfrowy Polsat. As a result of the new deal with Aster, over 2 million subscribers will now be able to view the Disney Channel in Poland. Disney Channel Poland is localized for the market with dubbed programming, promos and interstitials.

Geoff Ellis, the SVP of business development and distribution at Walt Disney Television for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, commented: “Since launch, Disney Channel has made a huge impact on the Polish market establishing itself as one of the top kids’ channels. With this new deal, we continue to extend our reach giving us the opportunity to make Disney Channel the leading kids’ TV brand in Poland."
