Discovery’s Speed Week Returns for Round Two

SILVER SPRING, July 12: Discovery Channel is bringing its
Speed Week stunt back for a second year, with the initiative set to air in 170
countries throughout Asia, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa
and on Discovery en Español in the United States in November.

“Discovery Channel’s Speed Week examines the concept of
speed from both an experiential and scientific perspective, by exploring what
drives people to push the boundaries of speed and how engineering and
technology are paving the way for future speed machines that will change our
world forever,” said Rebecca Batties, the executive VP of creative development
and brand management at Discovery Networks International.

Speed Week programming includes the one-hour specials HyperSpeed, produced by Base Productions, looking at the world’s fastest machines; Skyfighters,
produced by Becker Films, about an annual top-gun military
exercise for fighter pilots in Alberta, Canada; and Speed Dynasty, also from Becker Films, featuring five racing
families from around the world. Speed Week will also feature additional content
in each of Discovery’s international regions that will be programmed locally.
