Discovery to Rebrand FitTV

SILVER SPRING: As of February 1, FitTV will be rebranded as Discovery Fit & Health, featuring a slate that combines the fitness programming of the current channel with the real-life stories from the now defunct Discovery Health.

Discovery Fit & Health will be available in some 50 million homes. The channel will feature real-life dramas and health programming, covering forensic mysteries, medical stories, emergency-room traumas, baby and pregnancy programming, parenting challenges and tales of extreme life conditions. Titles include Dr. G: Medical Examiner, I’m Pregnant and…, 911: The Bronx and Untold Stories of the ER. Early mornings will feature FitTV workout programming, including Bodies in Motion, Namaste Yoga and Shimmy. In addition to the original productions, the channel will be actively acquiring from the U.S. and international markets. The schedule will cover a number of topical events, including the popular Discovery Health franchises Baby Week, Psych Week, Adventures in Parenting and New Year, New You. OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network took the place of Discovery Health at the beginning of the year.
