Discovery Kids Latin America Snags Bruno Series

TORONTO, April 4: Discovery Kids Latin America has picked up
Cuppa Coffee Studios’ 26×11-minute preschool series Bruno and the Banana
Bunch
for premiere later this year.

The Latin American deal for the series follows the recent
launch of the series on CBC in Canada. The series has also been licensed into
Portugal and the Middle East.

The flash-based Bruno and the Banana Bunch series is based on the 50×1-minute interstitials that
Adam Shaheen, the president of Cuppa Coffee Studios and Bruno originator,
developed two years ago and sold worldwide to Nickelodeon. Bruno and
the Banana Bunch
follows Bruno and his
friends around Banana Land on adventures that also contain a numeracy
component.

Julie Fox from AWOL Animation, a Paris-based distributor,
will handle sales on the series at MIPTV. Charlie Day at the Sharpe Company
represents the property for licensing and merchandising internationally.

Shaheen commented: "We are very excited by this
news—Discovery Kids has a great presence in Latin America and have like
others, recognized that this show has it all, great writing, great design and a
purposeful curriculum to it.”
