Discovery Brings Mob Wives to TLC in Europe

LONDON: Season one of the reality show Mob Wives has been sold by Electus-Engine Distribution to Discovery Networks for the TLC channel across Europe.

The show, which follows the lives of four women whose husbands or fathers are in prison for mob-related activities, is headed to TLC in Benelux, Norway, Denmark and Sweden for Discovery Networks Western Europe. Also, TLC in Poland, Romania and Russia will get the show through Discovery Networks Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA). For Western Europe, the series has also been picked up for Discovery’s free-to-air female channel Real Time in Italy and for DMAX UK.

Paul Edwards, the head of lifestyle and entertainment for Western Europe, commented: “The situation of the women featured in the series is unique, and their compelling stories have a universal appeal. We’re excited to have secured such a strong ratings hit for our viewers.”

Paul Welling, the senior VP and head of channels for Discovery Networks CEEMEA, said: “You see their lives portrayed in movies and sometimes you catch a glimpse of them when their husbands are sent to jail, but this is the first time we will have ever seen the Mob Wives up close and personal. It was a rating success in the U.S. and we know it will be a huge hit in our markets.”

“Electus/Engine Distribution is incredibly proud to partner with Discovery Europe as it is our goal to produce and distribute the very best content like Mob Wives for our partners around the world,” added Chris Phillip, the president of Electus-Engine Distribution. “Practically every country around the world will now know who the Mob Wives are and will be able to watch as their compelling story lines progress.”
