David Hasselhoff Gets Docu-Series on A&E

NEW YORK: A&E has picked up an as-yet-untitled docu-series from FremantleMedia North America that gives a behind-the-scenes look into the life of David Hasselhoff.

The 10×30-minute series will look at The Hoff’s multiple entertainment and business endeavors, as he balances work with his role as a single dad raising two teenage daughters who aspire to break into the recording industry. Best known for his roles on Knight Rider and Baywatch, and, more recently, as a judge on America’s Got Talent, Hasselhoff is busy with a number of live performances and business ventures, but is dedicated to making his daughters’ dreams of entering the music business a reality.

"It’s the dream of every parent to be able to help their children succeed," said Hasselhoff. "I told the girls that I would help them open the door when they are ready, but they would have to walk through it on their own. This is their time and I am excited to be a part of it by partnering with A&E and FremantleMedia on this new series."

"David Hasselhoff is an international icon known for his many roles and talents," commented Robert Sharenow, the senior VP of non-fiction and alternative programming for A&E Network. "Now for the first time he’s allowing our cameras to see another side of him as a single father raising two teenage girls and the day-to-day drama that accompanies the rest of his larger-than-life life."

"David is a multi-talented entertainer who is equally loved and recognized in the U.S. and around the world," added Cecile Frot-Coutaz, the CEO of FremantleMedia North America. "He rose to stardom when Knight Rider and then Baywatch hit the screen, more recently his work as a judge on America’s Got Talent helped the show reach number one in the ratings for the past four seasons. With his new reality series, viewers will now be taken on a fascinating journey behind The Hoff curtain to see the man behind the myth, and the magic and mayhem that makes him an exceptional father, a consummate celebrity, and ‘The Most Watched TV Star in the World.’"
