CTV Adds Seven Series for Fall

TORONTO: Canadian broadcaster CTV has added a total of 11 series to its 2010/2011 schedule, with seven premiering in the fall—including the new Law & Order spinoff and the Michael Chiklis ABC drama No Ordinary Family—and has also announced the acquisition of the U.S. version of The X Factor for fall 2011.

Announcing the slate, Susanne Boyce, the president of creative, content and channels at CTV, noted: “Strength, stability, surprise—it’s a programming mix you won’t find anywhere else. From a position of strength, we’ve freshened up Canada’s number one schedule in all areas, from comedy, drama and reality, to daytime and late-night, to Canadian and American.”

U.S imports joining the schedule in the fall are ABC’s No Ordinary Family; CBS’s The Defenders, $#*! My Dad Says and Blue Bloods; and NBC’s Law & Order: Los Angeles. Slated for midseason are CBS’s Got to Dance, ABC’s Mr. Sunshine and CBS’s Criminal Minds spinoff. CTV has acquired the streaming rights for each of the new scripted and reality series for broadcast on CTV.ca.

CTV’s original Canadian prime-time series include The Borgias, season four of Flashpoint, and second seasons of The Bridge, The Listener, Hiccups and Dan for Mayor. In midseason, the network will bring back its version of So You Think You Can Dance for a third season.
