CPLG Highlights Brands for Licensing Show

BURBANK: Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG), the licensing arm of Cookie Jar, has properties spanning a range of age groups to present at the Licensing Show.

For the preschool set there are Richard Scarry’s Busytown and Caillou. More than 150 million books have been sold in 30-plus countries for Richard Scarry’s Busytown. In North America, The Bridge is developing a new toy line for the brand that features characters, vehicles, tracks and buildings to create the "busy-system" play patter. I Can Do That! Games is to debut a line of puzzles and games. A stage show is also planned for North America for 2011. Caillou’s master toy license for Canada and the U.S. is held by Imports Dragon, with products that include plush, figures, playsets, arts and crafts, puzzles and party supplies. Trevco has also singed up to create a line of T-shirts for the brand. A live show by Koba Entertainment for Caillou will hit the Canada this winter. CPLG is building a program around “Caillou’s Ecology Club,” featuring the 4-year-old relaying environmental tips.

The girls’ brand Strawberry Shortcake has a new look and story line created by American Greetings Properties. CPLG is celebrating the new CGI animated TV series and 30th anniversary of the brand by signing up new licensees around the world and expanding into new categories, including food. The show is part of the launch lineup this fall of the new U.S. kids’ channel The Hub.

CPLG also has a range of properties for tweens and adults, including Varsity, the Harlem Globetrotters and Lucha Libre USA. Varsity’s global licensing program, targeting girls 13 to 17, includes consumer products such as apparel, accessories, footwear, health and beauty aids, bags and more. For the Harlem Globetrotters, the lincensing program will feature boys’ and men’s apparel, accessories, sporting goods, trading cards and interactive games. The popular Mexican wrestling brand Lucha Libre is hissing the U.S. with its first English-language series, Masked Warriors, which will begin airing on MTV2 and MTV Tr3s in summer 2010.
