Clasart Classic Extends Partnership with New York’s Metropolitan Opera

MUNICH/NEW YORK: New York’s Metropolitan Opera and Clasart Classic have signed an exclusive agreement for the international distribution rights for the Met’s opera catalogue outside of the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Japan and the U.K.

The Met’s program catalogue contains the world’s most extensive collection of opera productions recorded in HD. In addition to HD programs, the catalogue also includes about 100 operas videotaped over the last 30 years, featuring artists such as Roberto Alagna, Cecilia Bartoli, Piotr Beczala, Joseph Calleja, Plácido Domingo, Renée Fleming and Juan Diego Flórez.

Herbert Kloiber, the CEO of Clasart Classic, said: "We are delighted to expand our partnership with the most famous opera house in the world. After our enormously successful collaboration with the live in HD transmissions from the Met in German and Austrian cinemas, the international distribution of the TV rights for all these outstanding productions adds another magnificent facet to our extensive portfolio of classical music."

Peter Gelb, the general manager of the Metropolitan Opera, added: "Since our aim is to continue to strengthen our bond with opera lovers throughout the world, we’re very pleased that Clasart will be taking on our international television distribution.”
