LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK: CJ E&M America has launched KCON.TV, a short-form video platform and online community devoted to Korean entertainment.

KCON.TV launches on the heels of KCON in New York and just ahead of the festival’s Los Angeles edition being held from July 29 to 31. As part of CJ E&M America’s newly formed digital arm, KCON.TV is being led by Richard Frias, a seasoned digital media entrepreneur, who said: “KCON.TV is a pioneering platform designed to allow us to connect with our fans in a more meaningful way. We are building tools that will enable the fans of our content to have social experiences around their favorite shows, actors and idols.”

Original programming on KCON.TV will include the new exclusive series Ranting Monkey, which stars Amber Liu from the girl group f(x), as well as M Countdown Backstage, providing behind-the-scenes access to K-pop stars as they gear up for the Korean music show. There will also be shows focused on Korean beauty, fashion, food and music, including a new series starring K-pop celebrity choreographer Lia Kim.

KCON.TV will live stream concerts and awards shows, including KCON USA, the Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA) and the Style Icon Awards (SIA). The platform offers a large library of subtitled Korean-language clips from CJ E&M’s most popular music, drama, fashion, food and variety programming. It will also air a block of original content on Mnet America, a 24/7 English-language Asian entertainment cable channel. In addition, KCON.TV will distribute select content on Snapchat, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.

KCON.TV is produced by CJ E&M America and is being developed in partnership with the Iteration Group.
