Cineflix Wraps Post-NATPE Sales

LONDON: Following its inaugural outing at last month’s NATPE conference, Cineflix International Distribution has signed a number of deals, totaling more than 180 hours of factual content, across Latin America.

Discovery snapped up How Machines Work, Surviving the Future, Weird or What? with William Shatner, Princess, Rags to Red Carpet and Inside the Box with Ty Pennington. FOX Life picked up Property Virgins and Turner Broadcasting opted for Conviction Kitchen.

The company also scored deals with U.S. Hispanic broadcasters, including V-Me, which took on The Unsellables, and Galavision, which picked up Cooler Facts. Discovery en Español went for four seasons of the Mayday series.

Spain’s laSexta bagged shows including World’s Greenest Homes, Birth Days, Animal Rescue and A Dog’s Life.

Paul Heaney, the president of Cineflix International, said the company’s strong sales performance at NATPE confirms the emergence of “a vibrant and dynamic market with an appetite for quality factual content.”

Heaney continued: “We have noticed a sharp rise in activity across the Hispanic and Latin American markets, driven largely by the proliferation of new Spanish-language channels. We believe our factual programming, with its exceptional production values, compelling subject matter and proven track record, is perfectly suited to these territories.”

Sabrina Ayala, the VP of Latin America and Iberia sales and acquisitions, added: “NATPE gave us a valuable opportunity to place Cineflix’s programming front and centre with the Spanish-language markets and grow our roster of broadcast clients, some of them new to Cineflix, such as the Spanish free-to-air broadcaster laSexta and FOX Life Latin America. I look forward to growing relationships with our clients in these regions as we continue to add new titles to our collection.”
