CIMG Names Production House for E! News Asia

SINGAPORE: Comcast International Media Group (CIMG) has tapped activeTV to produce the new weekly series E! News Asia.

The recently announced E! News Asia, slated for March 2010 launch, is part of CIMG’s efforts to expand its local production output in the region. The show will offer up the latest entertainment news from Hollywood and Asia. It will air weekly on E! Entertainment Asia.

CIMG will soon begin a region-wide search for the show’s two Asian hosts—one male, one female.

Christine Fellowes, the managing director for the Asia Pacific at CIMG, said, “activeTV’s experience with large scale local productions, including the International Emmy award nominee The Amazing Race Asia, underscores the company’s qualifications to make E! News Asia a great success.”

“E! is a great brand, not only across the region but throughout the world,” added Michael McKay, the president of activeTV. “This new series fills a huge gap in the regional television landscape. Our search for the right presenters will be extensive, covering the entire region and will commence immediately. I expect the male and female presenter roles to be highly sought after. We’ve hit the ground running for what we expect to be an intense weekly production undertaking. We’re tapping into our vast regional production network to ensure that we have the Asian entertainment scene well and truly covered.”
