Chernin, Roberts Feature in Cable Show Event

LOS ANGELES: A one-on-one conversation between Peter Chernin and Comcast chief Brian Roberts will take place during the Newsmaker Brunch that kicks off The Cable Show on May 11, co-sponsored by the Hollywood Radio & Television Society (HRTS) and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA).

Roberts, chairman and CEO of largest cable company in the U.S.—which is in the process of getting regulatory clearance for its GE joint venture to take control of NBC Universal—will discuss his views on the production and delivery of entertainment and information content with Chernin, who currently owns and runs Chernin Entertainment and The Chernin Group. Until last year, he was the president and COO of News Corporation and chairman and CEO of the Fox Group.

“The combination of Peter Chernin and Brian Roberts, two renowned executives in the industry, will surely provide our members with an opportunity to listen in on an especially significant conversation about the state of the business,” said Kevin Beggs, the president of HRTS.

“This Newsmaker Brunch is the perfect way to kick off The Cable Show as we return to Los Angeles for the first time since 1996,” added Barbara York, senior VP of industry affairs at NCTA. “We appreciate having HRTS members involved in our show, and the conversation between Peter Chernin and Brian Roberts is sure to be a highlight of the show.”

The Newsmaker Brunch is open to all HRTS members and Cable Show attendees, with tickets priced at $105 for HRTS members and $75 for Cable Show attendees.
