Chello Zone’s Extreme Sports Channel Picks Up Backpackers

VICTORIA, May 23: Chello
Zone’s Extreme Sports Channel has acquired the broadcast rights to the reality
series Backpackers for several
European territories from Australia’s World Wide Entertainment.

Extreme
Sports Channel has picked up the broadcast rights to the series for the U.K.,
Ireland, Poland and France, with plans to begin airing episodes of Backpackers in June. The series will also be versioned into
local languages.

The 26×30-minute Backpackers
follows the story of three friends
from Australia who decide to leave behind their everyday lives and venture into
an unknown world of adventure. The series was shot in 22 countries over a
12-month period.

Launched in 1999, Extreme
Sports Channel, part of the Liberty Global-owned Chello Zone, is now available
in 55 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It broadcasts 24/7
in 11 languages to 25.6 million subscribers.
