LONDON: Mentorn Media is preparing an updated documentary about Jaycee Dugard, who was found alive after having been kidnapped and held captive for 18 years, for Channel 4 to air in mid-August.

The film is an updated version of the 2009 film Mentorn produced about the case. The new hour-long doc will feature Jaycee’s own testimony as well as exclusive interviews with her kidnapper’s lawyer, the local sheriff and Jaycee’s stepfather, who was wrongly suspected of being responsible for the disappearance. The doc also features new video evidence that was released of a visit by a parole office to the kidnapper’s home, failing to find Jaycee who was just feet away from him.

Steve Anderson, executive producer, said: "Despite the horrific nature of the story and the scandal of missed opportunities by law enforcement, there is a message of hope.

"Jaycee’s own testimony, in her book and in her TV interview, shows that she is a person who is determined to overcome the past and look forward. As she says, Garrido may have stolen much of her life, ‘but he did not get all of me.’"

Mentorn International will handle distribution for the documentary.
