CBC Inks MIPTV Sales

TORONTO, May 11: CBC International Sales wrapped up MIPTV
with a number of sales for its factual programs, including deals with MSNBC and
ABC Australia for Mississippi Cold Case,
a one-hour documentary about one
man's journey to confront the Ku Klux Klansmen that murdered his brother.

"Filmmaker David Ridgen has not only captured and
artfully told a very compelling story, but he has made news and helped provide
a new chance at justice for a terrible crime of historic significance,” said
Scott Hooker, the senior executive producer at MSNBC Documentary Production and
Development. “MSNBC is very pleased to exclusively bring this documentary to
the American television audience.”

ABC Australia acquired the
special for its signature current affairs strand, Four Corners, along with the one-hour The Denial Machine, an investigation into the roots of the American PR
campaign to negate the science and the threat of global warming. The
Denial Machine
was
also acquired by NRK in Norway.

CBC International’s Confidential
strand also continues its global rollout. Chocolate
Confidential
series was licensed to TV4 in
Sweden, NRK in Norway, Globosat in Brazil, TVB in Hong Kong, HBO Hungary, and
XYZ Networks in Australia. Chocolate
Confidential reveals the lengths
to which people will go to pursue their passion for the most popular flavor in
the world. The one-hour Christmas Confidential was acquired by La Sexta in Spain, SBS in Holland
and HBO Hungary. Christmas Confidential chronicles the movers and shakers of the multi-billion-dollar
Christmas industry, and uncovers the secret history of the world's most loved
holiday. The one-hour Hairstyle Confidential was sold to SBS in Holland, NRK in Norway, Globosat
in Brazil, SF in Switzerland, HBO Hungary, and I-Cable in Hong Kong. This
series untangles the myths and mystique surrounding hair in popular culture.

Finally, CBC International Sales
has reached deals with Discovery Latin America and M-Net in South Africa for Nuclear
Jihad: Can Terrorists Get the Bomb?
. The
award-winning program profiles Abdul Qadeer Khan, the rogue Pakistani scientist
who has done more than any other person or country to spread nuclear weapons
around the world.
