Cartoon Network’s Chowder Scores Ratings Boost

ATLANTA, November 21:
Cartoon Network’s new original animated series Chowder has brought ratings and delivery growth across
kids’ demos for its Fried Dynamite
Friday night prime-time block.

The animated half-hour
program has increased delivery and ratings among kids aged 6 to 11 as well as kids
aged 2 to 11 when compared to the same time period four weeks prior. The boost
came during each of the show’s premiere telecasts on November 16 at 7:30 p.m.
and 10:30 p.m., as well as during its encore presentation the following morning
at 8:00 a.m. Cartoon Network credits Chowder with driving overall delivery and ratings gains for
the Fried Dynamite block.

The Saturday morning
encore saw Chowder’s most
significant gains of all the broadcasts. In kids 2 to 11, delivery climbed 31
percent to 930,000, and ratings grew 28 percent to 2.3. The 6-to-11 set grew 27
percent in both delivery (689,000) and improved ratings by 27 percent to 2.8.

Friday’s 10:30 p.m.
broadcast also brought in double-digit gains over the same time period four
weeks prior. Among kids aged 2-to-11 set, delivery and ratings both jumped 23
percent to 1,088,000 and 2.7, respectively. That same broadcast also performed
well with kids 6 to 11 years old, climbing 18 percent to 780,000, and notching
a 3.2 rating, a 19-percent increase.

Friday’s earlier
broadcast premiere at 7:30 p.m. saw a 7-percent increase in both delivery
(750,000) and ratings (3.1) for the 6-to-11 demographic. In the 2-to-11
demographic, delivery increased by 6 percent to 1,060,000, and ratings by 4
percent to 2.6.

Because of Chowder, Cartoon Network’s Fried Dynamite block, which airs from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday, saw
a 9-percent increase in both delivery (998,000) and ratings (2.5) for kids 2 to
11 over the same time period a month earlier. For kids 6 to 11, delivery
increased 5 percent to 687,000 and ratings 4 percent to 2.8.
