CarpeDiem Opens New Animation Studio

MONTREAL, June 3: Canadian
producer CarpeDiem has opened Animation Station, a new studio that coincides
with the start of production on the new series My Life Me.

Based in central Montreal,
the new studio will be led by François Vachon, whose
credits include lead compositor for the television series Journey to the
Centre of the Earth
and Charlie Jade, and the feature film Pinocchio P3K. Animation Station currently works solely on
CarpeDiem productions.

The studio’s first project
is the animated character-driven comedy My Life Me for TELETOON in Canada, France 2 and Canal J.
Animation Station will also produce accompanying mobile and interactive
components for the series, which is a co-production between CarpeDiem and
TV-Loonland. The show’s executive producers are
CarpeDiem’s Marie-Claude Beauchamp and Normand Thauvette and
TV-Loonland’s Olivier Dumont. TV-Loonland is handling worldwide distribution of the series.

Beauchamp, the president
of Carpediem, said: “Our new digital studio will attract more great artists
like Svetlana Chmakova (the co-creator of My Life Me) to come and develop their projects with us; it’s
also a drawing card for new international partnerships. And with François
Vachon managing the studio, it will really set the creator-friendly tone we
want to nourish. I’m confident that My Life Me is the first of many distinctive, original
projects for Animation Station.”
