TORONTO: Actress and comedian Caroline Rhea is set to host this year’s Rockies Gala at the Banff World Media Festival, which will honor James Burrows, Howie Mandel, Eugene Levy, Edward Asner and Linda Ellerbee, among others.

Rhea started her career on the New York stand-up scene. She went on to play the role of Aunt Hilda in the sitcom Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. She has since starred in Lifetime’s TV movie Fat Like Me and was also the host of NBC’s The Biggest Loser and The Carolina Rhea Show.

The 2011 Rockies Gala will honor James Burrows for the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award, Howie Mandel for the Award of Distinction, Eugene Levy for the Award of Excellence, Edward Asner for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Nick News‘ Linda Ellerbee for the Lifetime Achievement Award in Kids & Animation, and Witness—the organization founded by Peter Gabriel—for the inaugural Socially Responsible Media Award.

"The Rockies Gala is a much-anticipated highlight of the Festival," said Ferne Cohen, the executive director of Banff. "We are delighted to have Caroline Rhea join us to make this glamorous evening even more memorable."
