CanWest’s Peter Viner to Retire

WINNIPEG, July 18: Peter D.
Viner, the president and CEO of Canadian operations at CanWest MediaWorks, is
retiring after more than three decades with the company.

Viner joined CanWest in 1974
and has held a number of senior positions since that time. Although he is
retiring from his role heading up the Canadian operations at CanWest
MediaWorks, he will continue to serve the company in a variety of advisory capacities
and will maintain his directorships with a number of CanWest subsidiaries.

Divisional operating heads
previously reporting to Viner will now report directly to Leonard Asper, the
president and CEO of CanWest Global Communications Corp.
