Cablevision Adds Discovery HD and Nat Geo HD to Lineup

BETHPAGE, March 23:
Cablevision Systems Corp. has added Discovery HD Theater and National
Geographic HD to its growing list of high-definition channels available to
digital cable customers across the company's entire service area, at no
additional cost.

With
the addition of the two networks, Cablevision now offers 23 high-definition
programming services including local broadcast stations, the most local sports
in HD and a wide variety of entertainment genres. Discovery HD Theater, a
standalone HD network from Discovery Communications, was the first 24-hour
high-definition network to broadcast its content in 1080i and 5.1 digital
surround sound. The network features a wide range of high-definition programming
from Discovery's family of networks, including wildlife, nature, travel,
science, history, geography and more. The new channel will feature original HD
event programs such as Discovery Atlas HD and Planet Earth, as
well as series that include Sunrise Earth, Destination HD, 1,000
Places to See Before You Die
and Risk
Takers
.

National
Geographic Channel HD, a simulcast of National Geographic Channel, showcases
programs such as the three-hour special Galapagos, which is the first in-depth, full access film
made in over 20 years about the Galapagos islands and their wondrous array of
wildlife. Other successful original series presented in HD include Naked
Science
, MegaStructures, Seconds From Disaster, and Explorer. According to Beta Brand Research, the channel was the number-one
most requested HD channel during the past two years.
