Broadcast Legend David Frost Dies at 74

LONDON: Sir David Frost, a British journalist and broadcaster who became known for his hard-hitting interviews, has died of a heart attack at the age of 74.

Frost died on Saturday night aboard the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship, where he was due to give a speech.

Frost’s career in television news and entertainment spanned almost 50 years. He was the only person to have interviewed all six British prime ministers between 1964 and 2007. He also interviewed the seven U.S. presidents in office between 1969 and 2008.

He rose to worldwide fame with his TV interviews with Richard Nixon in 1977. The two went head to head in a dramatic series of interviews over several weeks. It was Nixon’s first interview after resigning after the Watergate scandal. The interviews formed the basis of an acclaimed play and movie, Frost/Nixon.
