British Apprentice Moves to BBC One

LONDON, August 25: The British version of The Apprentice, featuring Sir Alan Sugar, will move to BBC One next
year following two successful seasons on BBC Two.

The Apprentice,
produced by talkbackTHAMES, will move to BBC One while The
Apprentice: You're Fired
, the companion
show presented by Adrian Chiles, will move to BBC Two from BBC Three.

Peter Fincham, the controller of BBC One, noted, “It's a
strikingly modern and highly compelling series which audiences love, and it's
made an unlikely but utterly watchable star out of Sir Alan Sugar. It'll be a
real treat for BBC One viewers."

Jana Bennett, the director of television at the BBC, added,
"With creativity and flair, BBC Two has successfully grown The
Apprentice
into a show with mass reach and
appeal. I now believe that it is time for it to fully flourish on the main
stage of BBC One. It's very rewarding to see shows grow and find new audiences
across the television portfolio in this way."

The first season launched in February 2005, drawing an
average audience of 2.5 million and an 11 percent share, peaking at 3.8 million
and 17 percent share for the finale. Season two, launched in February of this
year, gained an average audience of 4.4 million and 19 percent share, peaking
at 6 million and 27 percent for the final show.
