Brazilian Novelas, Mini-Series on Offer at MIPCOM

RIO DE JANEIRO, October 6: Globo TV International will be in
Cannes next week with three telenovelas—America, Belíssima and Soul Mate—and
two mini-series, JK and
Mad Maria
.

“Europe is a strategic market for Globo TV International,”
said Raphael Corrêa, the Brazilian distributor’s new director of sales. “Some
of the products that we are bringing to MIPCOM 2006 are already international
successes. Over the long term, we hope to strengthen our strategic position
with local channels and reinforce our presence even more, broadening important
and valuable new paths of programming in channels of the region.”

America has already
been sold in 23 countries including in Portugal, where the finale gave
broadcaster SIC a whopping 50.1 percent audience share. Belíssima has secured deals in several European countries,
including Portugal, Greece, Romania and Albania. Soul Mate has already fared well in Portugal and launches next
week in Albania.

The two mini-series are historical dramas. Mad Maria recounts the dramatic tale of men who survived the
horrors of the Amazon rainforest during the construction of a railroad. JK tells the story of Juscelino Kubitschek’s ascendancy
to become president of Brazil.
