Bravo U.K. Announces New Original Commission

LONDON, March 8: Ten “wayward” British men will be
transported to an American prison in Arizona in the new documentary series Brits
Behind Bars: America’s Toughest Jail
, a new
commission for Bravo U.K.’s schedule in the second quarter.

The men will experience life under will Sheriff Joe Arpaio
at the so-called “Alcatraz of Arizona,” where inmates are up at dawn, made to
work hard labor on the chain gang, given cheap food and have to wear a uniform
of black and white stripes, and pink boxer shorts underneath. The 10×30-minute
series has been created for Bravo by Diverse Productions. Minotaur
International will launch the property at MIPTV.

Celia Taylor, Bravo’s director of programs, commented: “I've
never seen a reality program that is genuinely scary and so real. We took a
risk putting British blokes in this prison and it's paid off with a really
compelling and exciting series. At the same time it also manages to ask some
interesting questions about a prison system and how it affects a group of men
who face an uncertain future. These guys really went through a tough regime the
result is a fascinating and shocking series.”
