Beyond Bags Worldwide Distribution Rights to Docs from Open Door

SYDNEY, September 19:
Beyond has been named the worldwide distributor of two documentaries from Open
Door: Independent America: The Two Lane Search For Mom and Pop and Cracked Not Broken, for launch at MIPCOM.

The 81×52-minute Independent
America: The Two Lane Search For Mom and Pop
follows former NBC foreign correspondents and married couple Hanson
Hosein and Heather Hughes as they travel the U.S. in search of “Independent
America.” They will examine “Mom & Pop”-owned small businesses that are
fighting to remain independent. The film, co-produced with HRH Media, was
broadcast in the U.S. on Sundance Channel.

The controversial
52-minute Cracked Not Broken, co-produced
with Blatant Exposure, examines the life of an intelligent, well-raised woman,
who at 37 is a crack addict and prostitutes herself to support her lifestyle.
Ninety percent of the film occurs in real time and was captured in what can be
considered a single shot. The story has been featured on The Opera Winfrey
Show
in the U.S. and on HBO as part
of the award-winning HBO Addiction Project.
