LONDON, March 27: BBC Worldwide has appointed Buena Vista
International Television-Asia Pacific executive Steve Macallister as its new MD
of global TV sales, effective in July and reporting to John Smith, the CEO of
BBC Worldwide.

In his new role, Macallister will be responsible for the
exploitation of intellectual property around the world of more than 40,000

Worldwide’s annual sales event, BBC Showcase. He succeeds Mark Young, who is
joining IMG Media as senior VP of entertainment sales and acquisitions
worldwide.

Macallister joins BBC Worldwide from Buena Vista

and MD, managing BVITV’s distribution business in the region. Prior to that, he
was the VP and regional head of sales at Walt Disney Television International
(WDTVI), where he was responsible for moving the Hong-Kong-centric business to
a fully integrated multi-function and client-focused distribution enterprise.
Macallister joined Walt Disney Television International (WDTVI) in 1993,
playing a key role in establishing Disney as the first Hollywood studio to
distribute programming on a barter basis in the emerging markets of Central and
Eastern Europe. From 1996 he held various sales positions in Hong Kong and
London covering Asia Pacific, Northern Europe and Middle East markets.
