BBC Worldwide in Asian Video Content Agreement

LONDON, September 25: BBC
Worldwide has inked a licensing deal to provide premium video content on the
Nokia N96 handset in Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.

Episodes from Doctor
Who
, Walking with Dinosaurs and Tribe 2, as well as scenes from Top Gear, can be viewed in the Nokia N96’s “My Videos” folder under Nokia
Video Centre. The various clips and episodes are available to download only
once, however they will remain on the Nokia N96 for a month.

“The
deal with Nokia is the first time BBC Worldwide has done a licensing agreement
of this kind in Asia,” commented Joyce Yeung, the senior VP and general manager
of sales and distribution for Asia at BBC Worldwide. “It offers us a great
opportunity to showcase BBC content on a new platform and to introduce an
audience on the move to some fantastic programs.”

“As a leading mobility
player, Nokia is pleased to give users an awesome video experience through our
devices and services,” added Leong-Yan Yoong, the head of video and TV services
at Nokia Software & Services for Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
“Delivering premium video content is part of our aim to bring exciting consumer
Internet services to Nokia owners under the Ovi services brand. The Nokia N96
will have you totally glued to its screen with its large 2.8-inch display,
built-in 3D stereo speakers, integrated kickstand and its huge 16GB memory
allows you store your favorite videos for viewing anytime, anywhere.”

BBC Worldwide content will
also be available on Nokia N96s in Australia and New Zealand through a similar
deal between the two companies.
