BBC Worldwide Enters First Australian VOD Deal

SYDNEY, October 11: Telstra’s
BigPond Movies broadband platform has entered into an agreement that allows it
to provide its subscribers with a range of on-demand programming from BBC
Worldwide.

As of this week, the deal gives
Telstra broadband subscribers access to titles like Little Britain, The Office, Top Gear and Walking
with Dinosaurs
. Each title will be viewable
over a seven-day period, priced from A$2.95 per episode.

Justin Milne, BigPond Group’s
MD, commented, “The BBC’s programs are perfect for downloading. Each is a
classic in its own right, and finding, download and watching a favorite Ab
Fab
or Doctor Who episode is a quick and simple exercise.”

The Australian deal follows VOD
agreements with Hanarotelecom in Korea, T-Online in Germany, Versatel in the
Netherlands, HOT Vision in Israel, Ebismedia in Italy and Telefonica in Spain.
