BBC Takes Kyle XY

CANNES, October 8: The BBC has acquired the British
terrestrial rights to the hit ABC Family series Kyle XY, it
was announced by Disney-ABC International Television at MIPCOM today.

BBC Two will launch the series in the U.K. next year.
The show premiered in the U.S. in June 2006 with a then-record 2.6 million
viewers, while the finale in August of that year ranks as ABC Family’s
most-watched original
series telecast on record with more than 3 million viewers. Renewed for a third
season, Kyle XY has
been sold to 180-plus territories, delivering strong performances on
broadcasters such as TV3 Malaysia and Cuatro in Spain.

“Kyle XY is
part sci-fi mystery, part comedy, part drama and wholly engaging,” said Sue
Deeks, the head of series at BBC Programme
Acquisition.
