BBC Entertainment & CBeebies Expand Reach in Latin America

LONDON: BBC Entertainment and preschool channel CBeebies have launched in Argentina through a distribution agreement with Supercanal.

The announcement comes just two months after the first anniversary of the launch of CBeebies and BBC Entertainment in Latin America, where both channels already reach viewers in 14 countries through a distribution agreement with Televisa Networks throughout the region, excluding Argentina and Brazil. Supercanal is the second largest cable operator in the country, reaching 14 provinces.

Jessica Rodriguez, the senior VP and general manager for BBC Worldwide Channels Latin America and U.S. Hispanic, said: “This agreement underlines our commitment to continue our distribution growth throughout Latin America—bringing BBC Entertainment and CBeebies incomparable and award-winning content to wider audiences. I am confident that these two channels will soon earn in Argentina the same recognition they enjoy around the world.”

“We are devoted to bringing the best programming to our viewers and we are delighted with the opportunity to be the first in the market to offer CBeebies and BBC Entertainment to viewers,” added Marcelo Juárez, the programming manager at Supercanal.

Adriana Eckstein, the director of distribution and affiliate sales at BBC Worldwide Channels, Argentina, Brazil and U.S. Hispanic, commented: "We are pleased to see that BBC Entertainment and CBeebies continue to grow their presence in Latin America. These truly unique offerings are a perfect match for those cable operators committed to audience satisfaction."
