Banff Opens Call for TV Award Entries

TORONTO: The 2011 Banff World Television Festival Program Competition is now accepting submissions, with 29 awards to be handed out during the event, held June 12 to 15.

The jury hosts, comprised of leading international senior television executives, are recruited from more than 300 countries. The final deadline for submissions is February 18, 2011.

The competition recognizes all areas of programming, covering entertainment, documentaries, drama and new media. The entertainment categories are animation, comedy, lifestyle and information, music and variety and reality. Documentary categories are arts and performing arts, documentary-style reality, environmental, history and biography, investigative and current affairs, political, popular science and technology, social and humanitarian and wildlife and natural history. In the drama arena, the categories are continuing series, made-for-TV movies, mini-series, sitcoms and soap operas and telenovelas. The interactive categories recognize achievements in online programming for children and youth, entertainment, drama and documentary, and also feature awards for best cross-platform project and best branded entertainment.
