BAFTA TV Winners Announced

LONDON: The Killing won in the international category at this year’s British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) TV Awards, beating out Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men and Glee.

Sherlock was named best drama series, while EastEnders scored its second consecutive win for continuing drama. The Cube won for best entertainment program. Harry and Paul took the comedy win, with Rev as best situation comedy.

The lead actor nod went to Daniel Rigby for Eric and Ernie, while Vicky McClure won for This is England ’86 in the lead actress category. The supporting wins for actor and actress went to Martin Freeman of Sherlock and Lauren Socha for Misfits, respectively. Graham Norton was recognized for best entertainment performance for The Graham Norton Show. Jo Brand won in the female comedy performance category for Getting On. Steve Coogan took the award on the male side for The Trip.

Zimbabwe’s Forgotten Children came out on top for current affairs. BBC One’s coverage of Formula 1 was the winner for sports. David Attenborough was recognized in the specialist factual category for Flying Monsters 3D.
