Babelgum Online Film Festival Opens for Submissions

LONDON, September 17: The
Babelgum Online Film Festival is officially accepting submissions, open to all
professionally produced short- and medium-format film content, including titles
from film-school students.

The online festival will
celebrate and reward the best in international independent filmmaking, giving
entrants the chance to win 20,000 euros in each category as well as a share in
relevant advertising revenue.

Babelgum has announced the
addition of a seventh category, the Babelgum Music Video Award, honoring
innovation and creativity in the genre. Previously announced categories include
awards for best short film, documentary, spot/advertising, animation,
social/environmental and the Looking For Genius Award, which celebrates
emerging talent.

Starting in February,
submissions will be exposed to public rating on the Babelgum Online Film
Festival Channel on Babelgum. In March, the ten highest-rated films in each
category will be judged by the festival jury, which consists of film experts
and directors of established film festivals, film schools and film industry
associations, including the recently announced addition of Stefano Martina, the
director of Arcipelago, International Festival of Short Films and New Images
(Italy). The three top-rated films in each category will then be presented to
Spike Lee for personal review and final award selection, to be presented to the
winners at an award ceremony and gala luncheon by Lee himself.

Submissions must be in
English or include English subtitles and must be submitted by rights owners
only. All content must be limited to a maximum of 50 minutes, except films in
the shorts category, which should not exceed 20 minutes and music video
submissions should not be longer than 10 minutes. These entries can by uploaded
directly at http://www.babelgum.com/online-film-festival/index.html?subscribe.
