Australia’s Network Ten Lines Up Originals

SYDNEY: Network Ten has five new local shows it’s launching this fall, including Everybody Dance Now.

Everybody Dance Now debuts August 12 at 7:30 p.m. The show features a search for the most entertaining dance act in Australia. Sarah Murdoch hosts with Kelly Rowland and Jason Derulo also on board.

August 15 sees the premiere of Puberty Blues, which is an adaptation of Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey’s Australian classic. The series tells the story of two girls in the late ’70s who are losing their innocence but gaining life experience. The same night, Class Of… makes its debut. The show features a group of under-performing students who are attempting to get their careers back on track.

Also new to the network are Don’t Tell the Bride, launching August 21, and I Will Survive, following on August 22. Returning series include Can of Worms.

David Mott, Network Ten’s chief programming officer, said: “Our commitment to big, compelling local shows has already seen us deliver hit programs such as MasterChef Australia, MasterChef All Stars, Offspring, Bikie Wars: Brothers In Arms and The Biggest Loser so far this year, plus shows that got Australia talking such as The Shire and Being Lara Bingle.

“Now we are stepping up that commitment. We’ve talked this year about the renewal of our creative content. These five new shows, plus the return of Can of Worms, proves we are serious about giving viewers big, bold, noisy, locally produced programs. This is just the start. More all-new, all-Australian shows will appear later this year and we are planning even bigger things for 2013.”
