Attendance of 11,200 at MIPTV

CANNES: At a press briefing this morning, Laurine Garaude, director of the television division at Reed MIDEM, revealed that some 11,200 executives were in attendance this week in Cannes, an increase on last year’s figure.

Garaude, referencing the event’s 50th anniversary, said that it was a "milestone MIPTV" that was "very rich, very productive, very lively…forward looking and inspiring."

Of the 4,000-some buyers in attendance, 800 were from VOD and digital-media platforms, a 30-percent rise on MIPTV 2012. Reed MIDEM also pointed to overall participation gains from certain markets, notably Russia, Ukraine, Brazil and UAE. China also had its largest-ever delegation, with almost 80 companies on site.

Garaude added that MIPDoc participation over the weekend was up by 15 percent, with more than 1,300 programs screened.
