PASADENA: AMC has secured the U.S. rights for The Night Manager, starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston, in addition to lining up a special event miniseries, Making of The Mob: New York.

BBC One, The Ink Factory and AMC have signed a co-production partnership for the TV adaption of the John le Carré novel The Night Manager. The miniseries is set to begin filming in spring 2015. Susanne Bier, who won an Academy Award for In a Better World, will direct. It marks the first TV adaptation of a le Carré novel in more than 20 years.

Also coming to AMC, the event mini Making of The Mob: New York will chronicle the historical roots of the original "five families" that led to the formation of the modern American Mafia. Eight one-hour episodes are set to premiere in the second quarter. Stephen David Entertainment is producing. The network will extend the Mafia theme by partnering each episode of Making of The Mob: New York with a lead-in from their extensive library of iconic mobster films, including The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, Goodfellas, American Gangster, Donnie Brasco, Scarface, Casino and Carlito’s Way.

AMC also announced extended catch-up viewing opportunities for the dramas Turn and Halt and Catch Fire on AMC On Demand, AMC.com and Netflix. The catch-up airings for both series will run in expanded windows prior to the upcoming second-season spring premieres.
