SYDNEY: Seven Network is on board for its own version of the Emmy-winning CBS series The Amazing Race, via a deal with Disney Media Distribution Asia Pacific.

The Australian version will be shot in locations around the world, with casting currently underway for production to begin later this year in conjunction with Active TV. The acclaimed reality show has already received a pan-Asian adaptation on AXN Asia, and has also been versioned in Brazil, China, Israel and Latin America.

“The U.S. version of The Amazing Race has had a huge following on Seven and we are thrilled to be working with Disney on this local version of The Amazing Race Australia, which promises to capture the excitement of the original series,” said Brad Lyons, Seven’s head of production.

The Amazing Race Australia is another great milestone in our long-standing relationship with Channel Seven in bringing programs that resonate with viewers here,” said Rob Gilby, senior VP and managing director of Disney Media Distribution Asia Pacific.
