Electric Entertainment has begun production on Almost Paradise, the first North American scripted series shot entirely in the Philippines, and revealed the series’ cast.

The company has also released the first behind-the-scenes images from the series, which feature the new cast additions Samantha Richelle, Arthur Acuña (Princess and I) and Ces Quesada (Invisible). Almost Paradise is a ten-episode drama series slated to premiere in spring 2020 on WGN America.

Electric Entertainment has tapped ABS-CBN Corporation to line produce Almost Paradise in the Philippines. The series sees Christian Kane star as Alex Walker, a former U.S. DEA agent who was forced into early retirement. Once the DEA’s most resourceful undercover operative, the combination of his partner’s betrayal and a life-threatening battle with hypertension has sent him as far from the madness as he can go: a small tropical island in the Philippine Archipelago.

Despite his best efforts to begin a tranquil new life, he’s pulled back into a world of dangerous people and deadly situations, either through his friends in the local police or running into people from his old life.

Dean Devlin, founder of Electric Entertainment and executive producer of Almost Paradise, said, “The backdrop of the beautiful Cebu island in the Philippines is the absolute perfect locale for this edge-of-your-seat crime thriller. It’s refreshing to be working in this remote area, featuring superb talent and professionalism. We are very fortunate to be shooting here.”
