NEW YORK: A trio of new real-life series lead off AETN International’s MIPTV slate, which also has a lineup of movies, documentaries and entertainment fare to offer.

Topping the list is Beyond Scared Straight, which profiles modern-day youth-offender programs that help keep at-risk teens out of the prison system. Heavy takes a look at the journeys of individuals who are facing life-threatening health consequences as a result of obesity. Storage Wars is a character-driven treasure hunt through storage-unit auctions.

The hour-long movie Charlie Sheen: Bad Boy on the Edge tracks the star’s 30-plus years of wild behavior. The new entertainment series Seriously Funny Kids features supermodel Heidi Klum as she interacts with children. Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the start of the U.S. Civil War, Gettysburg, from executive producers Tony and Ridley Scott, presents the events of the engagement in a new light. Also on offer is Stan Lee’s Superhumans, co-hosted by Lee, the creator of the fictional X-Men.

"Our catalogue has grown exponentially over the past few years and now features over 9,000 hours of programming from the top pay-TV channel brands in the U.S.," said Sean Cohan, the senior VP of international at AETN. "We are very pleased that our Lifetime offering has expanded with the launch of a new slate of unscripted series, complementing the Lifetime Movie package we debuted last year."

"MIPTV will be an exciting market for AETN International,” added Ian Jones, the managing director of international content distribution and commercial development. “We are coming to Cannes with a bigger sales team, and a robust program catalogue featuring some of the top-performing original series on U.S. pay TV.  I am confident that this new slate will appeal to our clients from all over the world.”
