AETN Firms Up Worldwide Deals

NEW YORK: AETN International has wrapped up a slew of sales across Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America on titles such as Ice Road Truckers and the spinoff IRT Deadliest Roads.

France Televisions went for America: The Story of the US. Also in France, M6 picked up season four of Ice Road Truckers. Spain’s Antena 3 licensed Steven Seagal Lawman and seasons two and three of Ice Road Truckers.

Across Scandinavia, TV Norge of Norway snapped up a package that included Pawn Stars, The Squad and Dog the Bounty Hunter. TV2 of Norway opted for Gene Simmons Family Jewels. TV4 in Sweden took the fourth season of Ice Road Truckers as well as the spinoff IRT Deadliest Roads.

Meanwhile, in Central and Eastern Europe, seasons three and four of Criss Angel Mindfreak were scooped up by pan-regional broadcaster AXN. TV4 in Poland is set to air Steven Seagal Lawman, while TVN acquired 102 Minutes That Changed America, Ax Men, Ice Road Truckers and Shockwave.

Package deals were confirmed with Chellozone for Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and with Slovenia’s PopTV. Marjan Television Network of Iran also picked up a raft of AETN programming.

A slate of Biography titles were sold to QTV of Korea, with Sun Media going for a package that included such titles as WWII: Lost Films and Mail Cal for KFN Channel. Taiwan’s ELTA took a large volume of programming. In Thailand, AETN International renewed an existing output deal with Thai PBS. Also in Thailand, True acquired Dogfights, The Works and the first two seasons of Steven Seagal Lawman.

In Canada, CBC News Network bagged 10 Ways to Kill Bin Laden. A number of sales were concluded across Latin America as well. These included deals with Rede Record of Brazil, Television Nacional of Panama, MTV Latin America for pan-regional and Caracol, Teleantioquia and RTVC of Colombia. Mexican broadcasters Televisa and Canal 11 also took on multiple factual titles. TV Azteca went for 102 Minutes That Changed America. Further deals included Mega TV and Television Nacional of Chile, Ecuavision and Telemazonas of Ecuador, WAPA TV of Puerto Rico, America TV of Peru and Canal 2 of Nicaragua.

“MIPCOM 2010 was a landmark market for AETN International with our biggest programming slate ever, including our first package of TV movies from Lifetime,” said Sean Cohan, the senior VP of international at AETN.
