Adult Swim Acquires New Anime Series

NEW YORK, February 28: Cartoon Network’s late-night Adult
Swim
block has acquired the new half-hour anime
series Blood + for premiere on
March 10 at 12:30 a.m.

Blood +, produced by Aniplex, Inc. in association with Sony
Pictures Television, is based on the best-selling anime film Blood:
The Last Vampire.
Set in modern-day
Okinawa, the series features a high school senior named Saya Otonashi who lives
a happy life with her adoptive family despite the fact that she is unable to
remember anything that happened before one year ago—that is, until a
blood-sucking vampire called a "chiropteran" attacks her and her
brother. The attack triggers the unraveling of her past, and Saya soon
discovers that she is the only one who can defeat the chiropterans. With the help of her family, friends
and her servant, Hagi, Saya starts to revisit her past life and accepts her
role of battling the vampires that have plagued Japan for centuries. The series
is executive produced by Hideo Katsumata and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa.

Launched in 2001, Adult Swim shares channel space with Cartoon Network and offers
original and acquired animated comedy and action series for young adults. It
airs overnight six days a week for a total of 45 hours each week.
