Current TV Launches Doc Strand

LONDON: Current TV in the U.K. is launching a new weekly current-affairs block, which will feature documentaries and real-life stories on a diverse range of British and international topics.

Starting September 28 with the debut of Wasted Britain, the block will run every Monday at 10 p.m. Titles to air in October include Hillbilly Heroin, Modern Day Pirates, Forest of Ecstacy and Sex and Money. In November, the docs From Russia with Hate, Godfathers of Terrorism, Porn 2.0, Happy Birthday World of Warcraft and Prison Underworld will air. December sees the launch of Future Warfare and European Cocaine Trail.

James DuBern, the VP of content at Current TV, said: “Authored journeys, audacious topics and authentic storytelling is what Current is all about, and I’m very excited about our autumn lineup. We aim to simplify Current’s message and content proposition, whilst keeping an investment in young talent at the core of our brand. This new series of exclusive, hard-hitting documentaries on Mondays at 10 p.m. has been produced by a combination of award-winning in-house journalists, and emerging British film makers, and is a taste of things to come.”
