Spike TV Renews Deadliest Warrior

LOS ANGELES: A sophomore season of the hit multiplatform series Deadliest Warrior is set for a spring 2010 debut on Spike TV, with 13 new episodes featuring history’s most lethal combatants.

Airing at 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, the first season of Deadliest Warrior averaged 1.8 million viewers on Spike, ranking second among men 18 to 49 and 18 to 34, only behind the NBA Playoffs on TNT. The show pits history’s greatest warriors against one another using 21st-century science and the latest in CGI technology to determine who reigns supreme. Last season featured such iconic warriors as Spartans and Samurai, William Wallace and Shaka Zulu and terrorists in the Taliban.

Also returning is Spike.com’s original round-table discussion series Deadliest Warrior: The Aftermath. In its initial run, the online companion show generated 1.8 million video views. Deadliest Warrior featured content on Spike.com will be further expanded for the coming season.

"We are thrilled with the success Deadliest Warrior has achieved both on air and online for Spike," said Sharon Levy, the senior VP of original programming for Spike TV. "The decision to pick it up is a no-brainer. Since hitting the air, fans have endlessly debated and shared online, even offering some great ideas for future match-ups."
