MIPCOM Preps Sessions For Producers

PARIS: MIPCOM this October will feature a range of keynote speakers and conferences designed specifically for international TV producers, under the banner "Rethinking the Production Business," and is offering a special discounted rate for producers who have never attended the market before.

The initiative, focusing on production, content screenings and business-based matchmaking opportunities, sees MIPCOM working closely with associations such as PACT in the U.K., FAPAE in Spain, Italy’s APT and the Dutch Association of Filmmakers and Television producers; screen agencies such as Australia’s Screenwest and Film Victoria; and governmental cultural agencies such as Telefilm Canada.

“The production business has become a lot more complex and challenging in recent years," says Laurine Garaude, the acting director of the television division at Reed MIDEM. "We are launching this exciting program to help producers find funding, new streams of revenue, international partners and meet up with top industry leaders. We want to offer producers a dedicated program to make their business easier, from the very beginning of the creative process to distribution. We also intend to help producers that have never attended MIPCOM by offering them a special registration rate of €650. We are thrilled to be able to work so closely with so many leading producers’ associations, screen agencies and governmental cultural agencies."

Rethinking the Production Business will be held October 5-6. Highlights include the keynote from The Simpsons’ Matt Groening and Al Jean; a screening of the best programming from around the world by The WIT; an introduction to new incentives for TV producers from international film commissions; a new Games2TV2Games Summit focusing on the impact of gaming on the production business as well as a special focus on developing revenues with online partners.
