Bruckheimer Unveils Gaming Venture

NEW YORK: Jim Veevaert and Jay Cohen have been tapped to lead Jerry Bruckheimer’s foray into video gaming, heading up the production and development of titles that will be published by MTV Games.

In December 2007, MTV Games sealed an exclusive deal with Jerry Bruckheimer Games Studio, but that partnership has been quiet until today’s announcement of the appointment of Jim Veevaert as president of production and Jay Cohen as president of development. "Jim Veevaert and Jay Cohen are two of the most knowledgeable, brightest, and creative talents in this industry," said Bruckheimer. "Throughout their careers, Jim and Jay have both demonstrated their unstoppable desire to advance the medium, which is exactly what we do with feature films and television. We are going to create content that challenges the way things are done and the experiences gamers have today."

Veevaert was previously at Microsoft overseeing the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system’s largest franchises, including Halo 3. Cohen spent the past decade at Ubisoft. At Jerry Bruckheimer Games, they will incubate and develop projects that explore interactive storytelling, foster creativity and challenge the boundaries of traditional game development.

MTV Games will serve as publisher for Jerry Bruckheimer Games and work with Veevaert and Cohen on all phases of development. MTV Networks will support the venture across all its broadcast and digital platforms.
