Golf Channel Original Series Gets June Launch

ORLANDO: The new Golf Channel original series Golf in America, hosted by Law & Order‘s Anthony Anderson, will kick off its ten-episode run on June 23 at 10 p.m.

The series will uncover real-life stories, featuring larger-than-life characters and inspirational people, as told through the game of golf. Golf in America will also profile celebrities, executives and golf personalities, such as Justin Timberlake and his purchase of Mirimichi, scheduled to become the first platinum-certified “green” golf course in the U.S., and real-estate mogul Donald Trump and his golf empire expanding to Scotland. Also featured in the series will be Hollywood producer Jerry Weintraub, American business icon Herbert Kohler Jr., LPGA rookie Angela Oh and sports super couple Greg Norman and Chris Evert.

“This series is not about putting, tournament golf or traditional news, but rather real stories, real lives and real people that make up the rich fabric of golf in America,” said Tom Stathakes, Golf Channel’s senior VP of programming, production and operations. “We found it fascinating that the various people featured in Golf in America—like soldiers, kids and celebrities—come from all different walks of life but can share the same passion for the game of golf.”
